Meet Dr. Zev Lazarus, Periodontist
Education & Specialty Training
Zev Lazarus, D.M.D is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Prior to attending the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Dr. Lazarus received an honors degree in biology from Touro University. This helped him develop a passion for biological sciences, which he carried through Dental school, focusing in the microbiology and immunology of Periodontal Disease. The American Academy of Periodontology recognized him with an award for excellence in Periodontology as a dental student.
He continued his post-graduate education at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where he received specialty training in all aspects of Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery and received his Certificate in Periodontics.
Patient-Centered Philosophy
While being enthusiastic about the biological aspects of Periodontology, Dr. Lazarus enjoys the human aspects of his specialty even more. He strives to pay careful attention to each patient as a unique individual and tailors his treatment to each distinctive need. He enjoys meeting, getting to know, and learning from each and every patient.
Life Outside the Practice
When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Lazarus can be found spending time with his family. They enjoy exploring nature together; discovering fresh mountain vistas and thundering waterfalls. They enjoy baking homemade bread and delicious cakes, as it beats the alternative to doing homework.

I highly recommend the periodontic services offered by Fair Lawn Periodontics. Dr Lazarus is terrific: he's cheerful, encouraging and a skilled doctor. However, I also want to highlight the office managers at the front desk. I had to have oral surgery and Dr Moisa (my doctor before Dr Lazarus arrived), performed traditional surgery on my first quadrant. Afterwards, he strongly suggested laser surgery for the three remaining quadrants. Unfortunately, my insurance wouldn't cover laser surgery and paying out of pocket for it would have been prohibitively expensive. Here's where the front desk comes in. They really fought on my behalf by continually contacting my insurance and, in the end, my laser surgery was covered! They did a great job and I'm very thankful for their efforts. They're understanding, communicative and will fight for their patients!

Dr. Lazarus is the best! He made me feel so comfortable both mentally and physically while removing a failed implant. He was extremely patient and took his time to do it in the least traumatic way to insure a positive outcome for healing and eventual replacement.
